HPV vaccination for boys begins in Kosovo

The Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo held a press conference today regarding the implementation of new vaccines, with an emphasis on the implementation of the HPV vaccine in boys in Kosovo.

The Executive Director of the National Institute of Public Health, Dr. Ardita Baraku, said that the implementation of the HPV vaccine for both sexes, in addition to its preventive role, enables and guarantees equality in access to the prevention of diseases caused by HPV, including anal and oral cancer and other diseases that affect both sexes.

She emphasized that the NIPHK through the management of the process, together with the KKMK and experts from the vaccination units in each municipality, will do their best to make this process as easy and accessible as possible for every parent and child.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Arben Vitia, said that last year 10,000 girls were vaccinated without any reported side effects, achieving 84% coverage at the national level.

He encouraged parents and guardians to ensure their children are vaccinated, because according to him, today's vaccination is tomorrow's protection.

She emphasized the importance of the vaccine in preventing HPV infections and other serious diseases, including cervical cancer and other types of cancer, giving children the opportunity to have a healthier future.
